nebraska = two weeks away

so the nebraska writing conference/workshop i'm going to is two weeks away. it was something i was initially very stoked about. i would be workshopping for a week with the good and strangely entertaining, chinese beer loving li-young lee.

but a couple of weeks ago, conveniently right after i bought my non-refundable ticket to timbuktu, ne, i got an email from the event organizers that li-young lee would not be able to run the workshop and that this pulitzer prize winning guy, franz wright (who?) son of james wright (still, who?) would take over and all would be swell because his name is franz, and things always go swell when a guy named franz is involved.

so i look him up the day before yesterday and i read a little of his stuff and i'm like ok, this might still be interesting. and by might i mean will. and then first thing yesterday morning, another email from the event organizers...

unfortunately, franz wright is feeling a little under the weather these days and he's going to bow out of everything, but arent we so lucky that this young fellow bruce bond has agreed to take over the orphaned workshop.

this guy looks interesting too i guess. i mean, his name is alliterative. so we're on the right track. it's not like i want my money back or anything (i didn't pay a thing) but it kinda gives me a negative impression of the whole workshop/conference.

things work out this way for a reason i suppose - i like to be on the optimistic, make the best of it side...so i really hope bruce and bond have some sweet suggestions and writing prompts.

today is wednesday. it's my day off. i'm going to get a haircut (we'll see if that happens) and i'm going shopping with my mom (for her) and me and my dad are going to get new phones! finally i can be done with the sucky nubbin.

if any of you have ever heard me talk briefly about my dumb phone and my dumb phone preferences you will remember a) the dumb nubbin and b) that i hate flip phones.
but i've given in. i still really want a bar phone...but since they came out with a gold razr, i've been rethinking my anti-flip-phoneness.

umm...so, i'll try to be less materialistic next time.
